Courtney Sipes Foundation and Causes
The foundation will support children with interests or talents in music and/or the arts. We will strive to inspire other children through the example of Courtney's accomplishments, and with scholarships, provide opportunities that otherwise might not be available. Pedestrian Safety In high traffic areas, more can be done to improve the safety of pedestrians. The foundation will support efforts to improve pedestrian safety and reduce pedestrian accidents, particularly where children are at risk.
Music and Art
Courtney's Law Courtney’s Law would seek to change the state laws regarding leaving the scene of an accident. The way that many current laws are structured may unintentionally act as an incentive for involved parties who are under the influence to leave the scene of an accident, so that they cannot be tested for the presence of drugs or alcohol. The Courtney’s Law effort will seek to change legislation so that the penalty for leaving the scene of an accident where there is apparent serious injury or death, and not submitting to drug and alcohol tests, would be just as severe as the penalties for causing an accident with serious injury or death while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
